The Village of Acme was incorporated on July 10th, 1910. The name "Acme"
was derived from the fact that it was located at the north end of the
CPR rail line, or the highest point on the map at that time. Today the
current population stands at 656 residents with a surrounding rural
population of a similar number.
The first Acme Memorial Hall, built after World War II, was destroyed
by
fire on January 31, 1949. Our second Hall was also lost to a fire March
13,
2004. Acme's 2006 Hall was rebuilt with funds from insurance, government
grants and donations from far and wide. Consistant efforts by Hall Board
members and concerned citizens have raised enough money that we are
proud to
announce our new centre "PAID IN FULL"!
Our new Hall is now a showcase of community Halls. Countless hours
went into the planning stage as board members travelled to neighbouring
communities visiting their centres. All the features for a great gathering
place were compiled and fine-tuned & the result is our spectacular
community centre.
We welcome you to Acme & we hope our Hall will be your next location
for your special function. Give us a call.
